Dave by the Bell: Take Care of Yourself and Help Others - Part Two

Last time on Dave on the Mall we wandered around and asked random Appalachian students, “What’ s one thing you’re going to do this week to take care of yourself.” This time on part two of the two part series we follow up with this question, “What’s one thing you’re going to do this week to help someone else?”

  • Dave: Hi there folks. I’m Dave. Last time on Dave on the Mall we wandered around and asked random Appalachian State students, “What’ s one thing you’re going to do this week to take care of yourself.” This time on part two of the two part series we follow up with this question, “What’s one thing you’re going to do this week to help someone else?”

Voice 1: This week to help someone else I’m going to be helping donate things to the Humane Society.

Voice 2: Something I wanna do to help someone else?...actually I’m gonna go to Macado’s and I’m probably going to pay for my friends dinner. He’s low on cash and I help him out when I can.

Voice 3: One thing I’m going to do this week to help somebody else is to brighten their day with a smile.

Voice 4: This week to help somebody else I will probably just listen to them because usually people come to talk and if you’re not really listening you’re not going to really get the message that they’re trying to send so I think listening is key so I’ll probably listen to what people have to say.

Voice 5: This week I’m going to try my best to put myself in situations where I can have meaningful conversations with others and really try to encourage them the best I can.

Voice 6: This week to help someone else I’m going to tutor students in the area.

Voice 7: This week to help somebody else I’m gonna give them a ride if they need a ride somewhere.

Voice 8: This week to help someone else I’m planning a birthday party for my friend.

Voice 9: This week I’m planning a service trip for spring break.

Voice 10: To help someone else I am going to offer a study session.

Voice 11: This week to help someone else I’m going to train people on how to be an active bystander.

Voice 12: This week to take care of someone else I’m gonna ask how they’re doing to make sure everything is okay in their lives.

Voice 13: Oh man! This week I will try to not think of myself and consider others more important than myself and just love them and help them out wherever they are.

Voice 14: This week to help someone else I’m going to donate cans. A lot of can donation drives are happening around campus. There is one in the multi cultural center. Delta Sigma Theta sorority incorporated is doing one.

Voice 15: This week I’m going to clean the room without being asked by my roommate.

Voice 16: This week to help someone else I’m going to have them go to the gym with me and make sure my roommate brushes her teeth and washes her face.

Voice 17: To help someone else I’m going to make sure my friends go to sleep really early and sleep a lot so they can be healthy and rested the next day.

Voice 18: I’m gonna ask someone how they are doing but not just like, “Hey how are you?” But ask how they are actually doing. You know what I mean?
