On April 14-17, 2014 Appalachian State University students celebrated Student Philanthropy Week. They gathered together to give back to the university, and to tell donors what their gifts to Appalachian mean to students.
Dr. Sheri Noren Everts was elected chancellor of Appalachian State University by the Board of Governors of the 17-campus University of North Carolina during a special meeting of the board Wednesday, March 19. On March 20, the Appalachian Family welcomed her to our campus.
In fall 2013, new and returning broadcast students were among the first in Appalachian State University's new 18,000 square-foot George G. Beasley Media Complex, which houses broadcast studios, classrooms, labs and offices for faculty members. A generous gift from Appalachian alumnus George G. Beasley of Naples, Fla., along with state funds and other private donations, have made the media complex a reality.
North Carolina native Maj. Gen. Edward M. Reeder Jr. '81 wanted to be just like his father—a hard worker with a moral compass "like none other," he said. His father was a command sergeant major in the Army.
